About This Quote
Amunhotep was a pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. He ruled from c. 1796 BC to 1789 BC. One day when the plague had taken hold of his kingdom, he journeyed to the temple of Amun in Thebes to pray for help.
The god heard his pleas and sent him an answer in the form of a dream. In this dream, Amun told Amunhotep that he would be healed because he loved all people regardless of their color or reputation. This dream was so powerful that it led Amunhotep to declare himself the living god, Re-Horakhty, in order to serve all people in his kingdom regardless of their race or station in life.
